Pay it Forward: 50 stories, for 50 “Story Packs”

16 million children will go back to school this year without the school supplies they need. Many of those students are right here in the Philadelphia Metropolitan Area. Which really sucks.

There’s been a lot going on lately, as I’m sure has been going on with you. I’d like to rant almost daily on the varied shenanigans that have been happening both in the news and in my life… but ain’t nobody got time for that. Seriously. A wise soul told me once that what you focus on, you find. Which sounds so easy, until you’ve been bombarded with every whack scenario from around the world. Right?! But this week, something shifted in my understanding. Not without some nudging, but the shift happened none the less. The universe has been asking me to give more of myself and I’ve been looking at my ceiling in protest like whuh?! What else can I POSSIBLY give?! I’m damn near burnt out as it is and you still need more from me? How bout some universal reciprocity first? Maybe? No? Oh, I’m breathing… so I’m good tho? K.

Meanwhile, “To whom much is given, much is expected” has been ringing in my ears for weeks. What does this even mean? Who says such things besides really annoying people who only mean it for other people?! So of course, I did my “innard” due diligence and some outward research where a need was blaring at me and an opportunity to help out manifested itself.  For just shy of a decade, I’ve been a story teller of the most magnanimous kind. Sure I’ve been on the radio and TV, done all kinds of content creating on the web and most recently, published a book. I’m a content creator, that’s what I do. I tell stories and fashion ideas from the ether. But what you may not know about me is behind the scenes in a very ghostwriting sort of way, I’ve been telling the stories of brands, businesses, athletes, entertainers and artists via some of the most compelling and creative bios (and press releases) on the planet.  What can I tell you? A story teller is designed to craft stories. It’s the one thing I do truly for the love and truly for a select and elite few. For more insight on my biz, click here.

With that said, school starts in a matter of weeks and in the richest country in the world, 16 million children will go back to school this year without the school supplies they need. Many of those students are right here in the Philadelphia Metropolitan Area. Which really sucks. I know some of you you are either holding a supply drive or have donated to one—which truly is awesome. Meanwhile, with weeks before the opening school bell, the universe is calling on me to step the game up. Why? Because to whom much is given, much is expected. Pfff.

So here’s the deal. I had this idea. I craft success stories for celerity types, but way too many students in this area won’t have the tools they need to craft success stories of their own.  Right? Also. I noticed that a way lot of entertainers, athletes, authors, artists, small businesses and large brands have really *cough* not great bios and copy materials on their websites and press kits and such. I’m a writer, I can smell the blah, blah, blah a mile a way. So my idea is to help folk re-craft their bios (or a press release for an upcoming event or launch), which will uplevel the story they tell to their fans, friends and clients and such–which makes what they’re up to even more awesome. My thought is, from now until Sept 9th, I can craft these awesome stories for people and in return for crafting their story, they’ll help me put together some awesome “Story Packs” for area students who are in desperate need of them.  These Story Packs I speak of will include a sturdy backpack and all the school supplies any student will need for most of the year:

  • Folders, notebooks, binders, journal, pencil case full of pens and pencils (plus plenty of extra),  and water bottle.

  • Also basic art supplies like: crayons, colored pencils, a sketch book and construction paper.

  • Students will also receive a calculator, compass, protractor, scissors, glue, ruler, erasers and a $15 gift card in case they need something else.

This year, because of the short notice of this divine inspiration, I’m looking to create 50 Story Packs—25 for K-8 students and 25 for 9-12 students.  What’s the really most awesome, coolest part of all this? Every time you look at your well-crafted bio on your web site… or in your media kit… or going out in your press release or even hung proudly on your wall… you can tell the story of how highlighting your successes and accolades in a really cool, one-of-a-kind way, helped an area student get closer to their own successes and accolades. Know what else comes with THAT experience? Yup. An interview with moi. You know why? Because I can’t write your story without doing my due diligence. Right? So my goal is to tell 50 of your stories, to create 50 Story Packs for area students. Get it now?

The moral of this story? Of course I have one this time. To whom much is given, much is expected. Use your gifts for all they’re worth–you only get to keep what you give away. Peace and abundant pay your gifts forward blessings– *bows* Osho Lovianhal (light the love in all) friend,-e-
