Emotional Detox Smoothie

*cough*

Happy Friday (Saturday) Night (Early Morning) Love and Light to you! Welcome to another winning week of awesome!

Under normal circumstances, I don’t ever claim *cough* because I don’t believe in it. *Cough* to me is the exact equivalent of Voldemort to the wizarding world. I don’t even like to say the word out loud. Meanwhile, I’ve found me some uncomfortable symptoms and while I will never admit defeat to the word *cough* itself, I will accept that I’m not feeling the hottest I can feel.

The trick here being that I’m not actually surprised. A lot of times when we go through major life changes, our bodies key up on the ‘act tough juice’ that will only last as long as needed (plus or minus a week or two). Then the real work begins by way of processing and healing and forgiving what is. If the life changes are major enough, there could be layers of emotional gunk to filter out that more than likely will happen in stages. One minute you could be easy breezy beautiful cover girl… and the next you could be rocking that Linda Blair The Exorcist green face. It depends on which emotions need a coming out party and probably what kind of peace you’ve made with being a spiritual being living a very human incarnation.

As you may know, I’m roughly 8 1/2 years into my intentional spiritual work journey and so this taint my first emotional detox rodeo. Most people experience emotional detox symptoms during a food detox (I did my first and second year of cleanses), but the body is always keen to get itself clean and clear of toxins. Painful energy and emotions accumulate in the cells just like food and chemical toxins do. When there’s a build up, you got to clean that gunk out. If you don’t, the presence of emotional gunk takes the form of dis-ease and illness in the body that obviously feels exactly like being *cough*.

My physical bod has been through approximately 2 years, 7 months, 2 weeks,12 hours and 42 minutes (and 52 seconds) worth of persistent other people negative, toxic goo. While I’ve been uber excited to be free from the physical mess that surrounded me, it hadn’t dawned on me that the emotional toll was equally as great. I mean, come on. Me? Need an emotional detox? Pfff. I mediate for anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour TWICE a day, chant, study the greatest ideas and thinkers, laugh, create, affirmative pray, yoga, write, forgive, garden and eat green stuff directly from the ground like my life depends on it.  I know every natural home remedy you can shake a stick at and I don’t put a thing on this bod I couldn’t put in my mouth without dying a blue horrid death. And yet, when the *cough* crept up on me yesterday. The sore throat and itchy ears. The body aches that start at my knees and hang out in my low back–all the places I keep stress, mind you. I knew. There’s goo tryina get out. My brain is clear as a bell. I’m not weak or tired at all. I just have very distinct and strategically placed *cough* like symptoms. From my experience, that’s how you know the difference between the *cough* and an emotional purging. Sometimes. K.

Potential Detox Phases? Really?! Yup.

I’ll add here that emotional detoxes play out in layers and waves. They don’t always happen in succession either. Depending on your inner work practice, these phases and probably several thousand more can play out over days, weeks, years or lifetimes. IJS.

Phase 1: The easiest layer is the “water weight”. This is the obvious stuff. A good cry and a forgiveness mantra will get you right. You feel right good for about a day, maybe a week or two and then the deeper stuff starts to push forward.

Phase 2: This phase can only be resolved by deep forgiveness and maybe an anger management workshop. This is where anger swells. Anger is the representative of fear.  Lots of people stop here. They drink, smoke, sex, X Box, etc. or find another form of anesthesia to keep from facing their goo. But the goo only goes back down, only to come back up for a chance to get out later. Better out than in I always say.  Plus, drink lots of water and herbal tea. A basic meditation and/or yoga practice would be mighty helpful here too. And/or a great therapist.

Phase 3: Here comes the deep, deep (deep) stuff. Probably stuff that hasn’t seen the light of day in years. People come up that  you never thought you cared enough to remember. People come up that you thought you forgave, only to remember something else about them pisses you off. Emotions of all sorts say hi. Sometimes deep joy and sometimes deep sadness. You’ll want to die of alcohol poisoning during this phase. Maybe. No, not really. Not if you know what it is. Face what you feel. Whatever it is. Accept it. Honor it. Over drink water, salt water gargle, drink plenty of hot tea, get a massage (or 10), meditate regularly, change your toothbrush, hug strangers, get Reiki work done, vision your best life ever, etc. A major unfoldment is happening for you. Your cells are changing to reflect your awesome work on the inside. This phase is designed to get rid of the dead emotional weight latched on your ankles, so you can fly. Ask: What is real? What is true? What is unfolding through this experience? This is the deep “I forgive MYSELF for EVERYTHING” phase. Then, realize there’s nothing to forgive and you’re golden.

Phase 4: Rest. Read. Meditate. Be encouraged. Drink lots of green tea and lemon water. Do something that makes you giddy. When you’re ready. Repeat.

These are the glazed over basics, of course. I truly wish there was an Emotional Detox Smoothie that could wash away what years of emotional and energetic fuckery puts in, but alas green smoothies can only help the process–not replace it.

I’m considering compiling a more in depth piece for envymckee.com, since I haven’t found a decent supply of readily available (and relatively down to Earth) insight on this particular topic. If you’re interested in learning more about how emotional and negative energy goo impacts your physical body in very real ways or need a coach to guide you through your goo, give me a shout. I’m always avail by either responding to this email or via the connect form at envymckee.com. Savvy?

Easy. Not.

So. That’s what I learned this week. I do hope it helps something. Thank you for reading this (!!!) Remember always to #RuleYoSelf with L.O.V.E. Have a Happy Awesome Weekend! Love you madly! Osho Lovianhal, -e-
