It’s not often I find myself off my square. It’s not often every part of my being wants to raise up and smack the holy hot mess out of someone in front of me. This doesn’t happen often because I’ve become fairly great at ignoring the ignorant and petty “the bullshit” people like to throw at me because they haven’t a single other thing to do at the time. I normally giggle to myself at such people. I know who they are instantly. I can see right through them. I see their weakness and cowardice. I see the way they use what little power they have to gain absolutely nothing. Not even leverage. When people don’t know who they are, they start ticking like a time bomb. If you listen hard enough, you can hear the ticking sound quite clearly. Tick, tick, tick, tick…
While regular time bombs explode only once, people as time bombs explode, regroup, tick, tick, tick, then explode again. It becomes the cycle of their life.
You watch Scandal? The concept of “the ticking” was solidified for me during the Hunting Season Episode. Cyrus told President Fitz he was ticking. Fitz is in love with Olivia. Of course, Fitz is married to a relative psychopath who is also pregnant. Olivia has no real interest in being the other woman for the rest of her life. Fitz is facing this awkward place between choosing his greatness as the leader of the free world or the love he NEEDS to express as a human being. He’s ticking because politics isn’t satisfying to his true nature. Of course, Cyrus doesn’t explain it like that. Come on ya’ll. If you don’t watch the show, you’re probably giving me “the face” right now. But whatever. Believe me when I tell you I have grand experience with “the ticking”.
Now. The second I face someone and hear that ticking, I high tail it a totally different direction. For me it’s simply instinct. I’ve been hearing that ticking sound most of my life. I know no good comes from it. Time bombs explode eventually unless they’re diffused by an expert in the field. It’s different for people though. While regular time bombs explode only once, people as time bombs explode, regroup, tick, tick, tick, then explode again. It becomes the cycle of their life. People as time bombs are utterly entrenched in victim consciousness. They explode and regroup and explode again because they haven’t a clue that they’re ticking. If you tell them they’re ticking, they’ll give you the finger. They haven’t a clue how to diffuse themselves. They haven’t a clue about who they truly are and what they’re on this planet to do. To walk the planet with no purpose and no vision has to be the single most frustrating thing a spirit living a human incarnation can do. I can’t even imagine how that frustration must escalate around folk who are living on purpose. Tick… tick… tick…
For all intents and purposes, ticking people are the great hypocrites. They make the lives around them utterly miserable because they have no rightly idea where their misery even comes from.
Somewhere high in their souls they know they’re here for something. They know it. As they get older and they’re nowhere closer to it, the frustration mounts. They feel they’re running out of time. Meanwhile, their dream keeps nagging at them. It’s unhinging them. They try to anesthetize themselves with drugs, alcohol, shopping, food, gambling, sex or whatever is handy. They try to fill the holes they feel by not living the purpose that is implanted in their very DNA. They lash out at others. They’re control freaks. They try to exert what little power they have in the their little worlds to gain control or leverage that they know they don’t actually posses. Ticking people are ALWAYS looking for respect. Meanwhile, they don’t give any and thus, never get any. They want to be accepted, yet they have no capacity for acceptance. Ticking people love to complain, but have zero interest in hearing about their own faults. Ticking people are the ones who will be laid up in the bed all damn day while you’re doing a thousand things and somehow suggest you’re not doing enough, plus give you more to do.
For all intents and purposes, ticking people are the great hypocrites. They make the lives around them utterly miserable because they have no rightly idea where their misery even comes from. They’ve been looking. Through their lens of victim consciousness, they’ve written a laundry list of folk who have kept them from their happiness. No matter how many they add to the list, no matter how many of their fingers they point at others, the truth of the universe is they’re ticking. They’re ticking and they’re about to explode. Again. I should also say here that there are levels to this. To be fair, Fritz may be ticking, but he ain’t on the same level of pointless explosiveness as say, some folk I know. Plus he’s a TV character. He’s not even real.
They will do everything in their power to make your life as hellish as they feel. They will create drama where none exists. They will test your will. They will make you want to smack the holy hot mess out of them. Oh yes, they will.
Now. It’s easier to stay away from ticking folk when you don’t really know them. It’s easier to do an abrupt heel turn and run another direction when you don’t have to EVER see that time bomb if you don’t need to. Unfortunately, sometimes that ticker is a boss or a parent or a sibling or a spouse or another loved one. If the ticker happens to live with you, may the force be with you because tickers are no joke when they’re under the same roof you’re under. They will do everything in their power to make your life as hellish as they feel. They will create drama where none exists. They will test your will. They will make you want to smack the holy hot mess out of them. Oh yes, they will.
A few weeks ago, Dr. Beckwith was very clear during one of his weekly Sunday talks via Agape Live (check the 11-4-12 11 am jawn). He said, “The MOST dangerous people on the planet are those without dreams or vision. You can love them. You can pray for them. But you can’t hang around them. They are vampires. They will drain you.” For whatever reason, this statement has been blaring at the front of my dome like a Times Square billboard. I’ve watched this very truth play out in my actual life, in real time, for as long as I’ve been alive. I’ve watched the people around me personify this very thing in the scariest ways. See. When you live for a purpose greater than yourself, but the people around you are ticking, their bomb has to go off at you because you remind them of what they aren’t doing. There is nothing that scares a ticking person more than someone expanding. You have to understand why they’re ticking to start. They’re ticking because they haven’t figured out who they are. Your presence reminds them of this either consciously or unconsciously. It’s the same presence as light filling darkness. Those who like the dark, hate the light because it hurts their eyes. A person with purpose and vision and dreams is like kryptonite to someone without them. When you get too close, their eyes hurt. I can only imagine, it aches in their very soul. Based on the kinds of reactions I’ve experienced simply by existing around such people, they react the way utterly terrorized people often do. They tick louder and faster until they explode all over you.
A person with purpose and vision and dreams is like kryptonite to someone without them. When you get too close, their eyes hurt.
Cyrus and I call it ticking. Eckhart Tolle calls it living through your pain body. Dr. B calls it Vampire draining. I’m sure there are loads of ways to describe what happens when you begin to live above the firmament or what I call “the bullshit”. The gist is Awake people scare the shit out of asleep people, in a similar fashion that I would presume folk who don’t know they’re in The Matrix would react to a person they see flying over buildings and through windows with only a running start. That shit is freaky to some people. “How do you even have those powers?!”–they say to themselves. The fact that they don’t have those same powers can’t at all be something wrong with them. Clearly, something is wrong with you.
The truth of the universe is, all of that is small life, small minded folk mind fuck. Remember this, folk can only see you through the lens they see themselves. If they perceive themselves as lacking, they have to find what’s lacking in you. Even if there is so much dope about you, what’s lacking becomes irrelevant. Believe it’s a fucked up scenario to be in. Particularly when its a loved one ticking mighty close to where you’re standing. You can love them. You can pray for them. But you sure as all hell can’t hang out with them.
… folk can only see you through the lens they see themselves. If they perceive themselves as lacking, they have to find what’s lacking in you.
The really unfortunate part is that you can’t even help them. Not until they’re ready to take their own red or blue pill. Just like you did. We’re all here to make our own choices. We’re not here to evangelicalize our life experiences. Yes, we are teachers, once we’ve lived our lessons. Yes, our lives are our classrooms. But once you start to really walk in this life, you learn that people do what they do because that’s what they do. The only people who change, are the ones who want to. These folk are the ones who do the work required to be who they are designed to be. You can be there when these folks are ready. But only they decide when that is. Ego is a mighty bitch. Many a folk live and die by her hand. Your role in this is to stay true to who you are and what you came to do. Stand up to your bullies–recognizing them for who they actually are. Ticking souls about to either explode toward another reset or toward their greatest good. Either way, as with any bomb scenario, if you ain’t an expert at diffusing that shit, it’s always wise to walk (run or fly) the fuck in a whole other direction. I’m just saying.
The moral of this story? Really? You think I have one?! Thank you for reading this though. Peace and abundant “sometimes you can’t pray folk ‘the bullshit’ away” blessings. Love, -e-
